Kenya's Catherine Ndereba powered to her second world championship marathon gold medal with a perfectly executed run on Sunday. Ndereba, who also won gold in 2003 and took silver in 2005, hit the front at the 36-kilometer mark and surged clear over the last two kilometers to clock two hours, 30 minutes, 37 seconds in Osaka.
