This is the principle that originated our concept. The big difference between earlier patented devices is that it does not use pulleys. Those will wear out the cable or rope. Also, it can have one arm longer than the other, so that it can use leverage . . . for several purposes. It can also be long enough to compensate for tidal variations. Finally, the cable to shore can extend in the other direction, if a counterweight is used underneath the horizontal arm.
