Please read, lyrics, etc...This song is dedicated to the inspiring Drew; his daughter, Adriana; the love of his life, Jennifer; and the friend they have lost, Jess. Drew, you've waited so long for this; thank you for your patience. You and your family will remain in my prayers. Your absolute devotion to them through all that you are going through is the true inspiration. Thank you for the reminder to make each day count. I wish you strength, peace and the comfort that you have given so many. My best, ~Lauren
Thank you to Julie for helping me on this one, and to Ivy for - everything...

This video is not in true ASL, although it should be - and will be when I can update it accurately. It is hard to translate songs into ASL because it is a true language just as English is; therefore, ASL is not in English word order. It's difficult to not lose the meaning and rhythm of the song. There are many that can do it; I am a working my way there. It was my own interpretation of this beautiful song at the time. I hope it inspires you.
[LYRICS BELOW]
I am not deaf. I was inspired to learn from my cousin & my ASL instructor, both of whom are deaf, as well as from a friend's child. I am not an interpreter, although that may be have a long way to go to become even close to fluent in ASL, so I admire those that are. Take classes at your local college, find on-line resources or books if there are none nearby. Most importantly, the BEST way to learn is to talk with someone who is deaf.
I can't please everyone and I will never be a perfect signer because I am not deaf. However, I am making the effort to communicate on all levels in a way that I truly enjoy - in the most beautiful language.
All I know is what I am reading from all of you: people who were touched to see a beautiful visual aspect put to their special song. That it helped express their love, or let go of one; deal with the loss of a grandparent, a friend; recall their faith; start a new life; their wedding song; courageously battle disease as they fight for their life; bravely fight to protect ours... Countless people asking how & where they can learn ASL (college classes near you, on-line resources, or most importantly, talk with someone who is deaf). These are the reasons I'm doing this, and will continue...Thank you so much for the support.
My best,
~Lauren
"Skin" by Rascall Flatts (rascalflatts.com)
Sarabeth is scared to death
To hear what the doctor will say
She hasn't been well
Since the day that she fell
And the bruise, it just won't go away
So she sits and she waits with her mother and dad
Flips through an old magazine
Till the nurse with a smile
Stands at the door
And says will you please come with me
Sarabeth is scared to death
Cause the doctor just told her the news
Between the red cells and white
Something's not right
But we're gonna take care of you
Six chances in ten it won't come back again
With the therapy were gonna try
It's just been approved
It's the strongest there is
I think we caught it in time
Sarabeth closes her eyes
And she dreams she's dancing
Around and around without any cares
And her very first love is holding her close
And the soft wind is blowing her hair
Sarabeth is scared to death
As she sits holding her mom
Cause it would be a mistake
For someone to take
A girl with no hair to the prom
For, just this morning right there on her pillow
Was the cruelest of any surprise
And she cried when she gathered it all in her hands
The proof that she couldn't deny
Sarabeth closes her eyes
And she dreams she's dancing
Around and around without any cares
And her very first love was holding her close
And the soft wind is blowing her hair
Its quarter to seven
That boys at the door
And her daddy ushers him in
And when he takes off his cap
They all start to cry
Cause this mornin where his hair had been
Softly she touches just skin
And they go dancin
Around and around without any cares
And her very first true love is holding her close
And for a moment she isn't scared
