What nice ending. They didn't make it too depressing. I like how they had the happy music as she floated up in her bubble.

You're right. I just thought to myself why didn't she woke him up from his sleep and told him she was his rescuer? She had her voice back so she could tell him that! And he would have been with her because divorces were allowed even back then!

This short version was published in the 80's as children tape among other short stories such as Snow White, Cinderella, Ali Baba, ect. . But it wasn't popular and almost no one knows about it. As for the long japanese anime, that isn't known by anyone for sure. NO ONE knows about it in Israel, and only thanks to the Internet I found this here on YouTube. But it was really bad movie so there's no surprise about that, only Marina's song in the Japanese language was good and emotionally strong.

Now I watched this... it wasn't so strange as a fairy tale story for kids. Maybe something was lost in translation(her projected doomed fate), but I don't see serious defect.

WOW! Are Andersen tales popular in Israel as well? The Lord bless her. Actually, translations could be unitedly inaccurate(if you know what I mean), but hopefully it is not the the case here.

LOL I was surprised as well to see this was popular in the world as well, cause some movies that come to Israel come from some distance country that no one else knows about it. Just one question, who is "Her" that you guys talked about?

Why, we've been talking about H.C. Andesen's Little Mermaid all along. Marina from a Japanese animation movie is a good adaptation. I always wondered what animations are favored by Israeli children.
