Please Be Mine Chapter 8

RECAP:
Nick: Wha-I-you-

*Down the hall Kevin yells. Nick turns to see the shadows of Kevin, Amanda, Haley and Taylor. Amanda punches Kevin. Taylor holds him against the wall as Haley kicks him. Amanda delivers 1 more blow to Kevins head, and he falls. Nick turns back to the crowd, but he sees hes suddenly alone.*

CURRENT:
*Nick sits up in bed, his face red hot and his heart pounding. He breathes heavily as he checks the clock. 5:59. am. He lies down to back to sleep, when his alarm rings. He grunts as he shuts off his alarm and drags himself out of bed. He walks into the kitchen. His brothers are eating breakfast already.*

Mrs. Jonas: Joe, remember, were meeting with your principal this afternoon, so come right down to the office after school, got it?

Joe: Yes, ma am

*Nick walks into the room, sits down and starts to eat his cereal.*

Mrs. Jonas: Nick, youre awfully quiet this morning!

Nick: I just couldnt sleep last night.

Frankie: Really? Cause I woke up in the middle of the night. You were asleep, but you were tossing and turning and moaning something about Kady.

Nick: I just had a bad dream is all.

Mrs. Jonas: Are you sure theres nothing you want to talk about?

Nick: No, Im fine.

*Later, the boys are walking to school. Its raining, so everyones already inside at their lockers. Nick bravely walks over to Kadys locker.*

Nick: Hi Kady!

Kady: Hi, Ned!

Nick (thinking): Whew! So it was a dream!

Nick: where were you last night?

Kady: I was studying for a test.

Nick: You couldve called! Thats it, were through!

*Kady gasps, then starts to cry.*

Carmen: Ned!

Anna: How could you be so cruel to her?

Nick: How could I be so cruel to HER? Dont you mean how could she be so cruel to me!

Anna: You shouldnt let her go!

Kady: Ned! Please! I can change!

Nick: Keep on singing that same song! Its not going to work!

*Nick walks over to Joe and Kevin who high-five him. But their joy is interrupted when the PA crackles.*

Mr. Carlos: John Jones, please report to the principals office. John Jones to the office. Thank you!

*The random dude again appears.*

The Random Dude: hey, whatd ya do?

Joe Kevin and Nick: Who are you?

Random Dude: Bye guys!

*The boys look at each other, then shrug. Kevin and Nick escort Joe to the office. They see through the window in the door that Sabrinas in there. Joes heart stops and he somehow finds the strength to knock on the door.*

Mr. Carlos: Come in.

*Joe walks in.*

Principal: Mr. Jones, please take a seat.

*Joe sits next to Sabrina.*

Principal: Mr. Jones, Sabrina here is claiming that youve stolen her purse.

Joe: What? I did nothing of the sort!

Principal: Mr. Jones, Im not saying it was you, but Id like you to lead us to your locker so I can do a search. If there is a purse in there, then when your parents come to meet with me, Im telling them that youre suspended.

*Joe sighs as Mr. Carlos and Sabrina follow him to his locker. Joe opens up his locker, and Mr. Carlos searches through.

Mr. Carlos: lets see, English textbook, History notebook, math homework from a week ago,

Joe: So THATs what happened to it!

Mr. Carlos: Lunch money, pencil case, AHA! And what do we have here?

*Mr. Carlos pulls out a Purple leather coach bag. Joe gasps.*

Sabrina: Thats it! Thats my purse!

Mr. Carlos: Mr. Jones, are you aware that Sabrina has informed me that these are worth about $100?

Joe: N-no, but I c-cant imagine how it got in there!

Sabrina: So, I just pretended that this was my locker, and went to the office saying I forgot my combo and then came to your locker and put my purse inside.

Joe (through gritted teeth.): Yes, Tess Tyler, thats exactly how your precious charm bracelet got in the kitchen!

Sabrina: So you think this is a scene from Camp Rock? Really youre acting like Joe Jonas.

*Joes face goes pale.*

Mr. Carlos (handing Sabrina's purse back to her.): You may go back to class now.

*Sabrina walks away.*

Mr. Carlos: You, come with me.

*Joe follows Mr. Carlos back to the office.*
