Honoring tradition

To those whom bleed gold and blue, thy honor tradition. A dream of change and sacrifice we honor a vision, to, maybe one day prove to the world that we are worth the tuition. We are scholars, this is fact, we are an uprising of blacks, from April 7th, 1867, I acknowledge the stats. I acknowledge that no one thought we could do it except the six who've done it, the founders before Smith was known as Smith, I'm talking Biddle Memorial Institute. I'm talking the pain and suffering they went through just to get us introduced. So, who am I to bite the hand that once fed my brothers, my brother's brothers and my sister's grandmother? Her grandmother, her grandfather, In Smith we trust, they should put that in between the bird and the pyramid on the dollar. You know something was brought to my attention the other day. They say that they can tell if a black man will be locked up based off his 3rd grade education. Well I agree to disagree, because from Yancy to Dr. Carter we are now as strong as we can be, to make sure that each and every black can earn their bachelor's degree, and not just stop there, you have the power to go further and beyond, beyond where angels can see, beyond where angels can speak. I want everyone to close their eyes and ask themselves where would this institution be in the next ten years? Now open them. You no longer have to worry about that question because Dr. Carter is here

Inspiring change is in my veins created from DNA, it makes me. It formulates and molds a bigger and better me, a bigger and better you. So Smithies grab that golden bull by its horns and honor its tradition, honor its ways; from Obama to Dr. Carter we are inspiring change. Honoring tradition.
