  • It was a spun/ wiped rod bearing.

  • I fixed it by replacing the engine with a used one. I haven't torn the original one apart, but it was definiteley either the wrist pin or a spun bearing.

  • it is caused by reving in the high rpm range or past it

    or reving in the high rpm range wit low oil

  • sounds like a wrist pin. A bad wrist pin will make them sound like a diesel running.

  • I'm having the same noise, what was the problem? I assume you fixed it by now.

  • it's a bad wrist pin bearing... i know cause the sound goes away once in a while and always ticks at let off at 3500rpm. it's cylinder 3 on my engine... usually cause by turbo heat.
