Actually that loss by UTEP in the 1992 WAC final was motivation and therefore the Miners went to the Sweet 16 that year, BYU just got a lucky shot.

I was at that game. As a Miner fan it was awful. At least the miners went on to the Sweet 16 by beating top seeded Kansas and BYU lost in the 1st round.
