Filmed September 3, 2009, at Chiba Marine Stadium, from the midst of the Fighters cheering group.
As it was the last scheduled Fighters-Marines game for the 2009 season at Chiba Marine Stadium, even though the Fighters lost, we all stuck around for a post-game ouenkai. Basically, the two teams' cheering groups show respect for each other by yelling to the other side how they did a good job this year and good luck next year and so on, as well as singing each others' cheer songs.
In this video, we had previously been trading player cheer themes for a bit back and forth, going from the well-known like Nishioka and Tsuboi down into obscure players even I couldn't remember. As a final attempt to outdo them, we struck up Iwao Ohmura's infamous Old McDonald theme (replacing E-I-E-I-O with I-wa-i-wa-o"). It seems that we might have finally scored a point, as their only response was a Marines-style "Let's Go Fighters" and we did a likewise "Ganbare Marines", and shortly after that the ouenkai broke up.
What makes this all the funnier, at least to me, is that Iwao Ohmura, after a long career with Lotte, is now a batting coach for the Fighters.
