I would say its because the transfer case reduces gear speed to the front end

hmm, different axles, different sized housings with different No. of teeth on the ring gear means +/- few hundredths is more or less the same ratio and economically close enough anyways lol That would be my guess. Now if it was the same axle front to back, I would think they would be bang on the same.

@thedriver02 it has to do with the ring gear being smaller in the dana 44 along with the spider gears smaller too , the final drive at the wheel is 100% exactly the same lol it's an illusion of sorts , they later lied about the ratios to make them match so to speak lol
