(Sacramento) The California State Assembly today passed three pieces of urgency legislation to help California avoid a cash crisis that would have seen the State Controller issuing IOUs for the states required payments beginning July 2. The urgency bills, passed with bipartisan support, provide as much as $4 billion in immediate cash solutions for the state until August. Assemblymember Noreen Evans (D-Santa Rosa), Chair of the Legislative Budget Conference Committee, told reporters after the votes, This was a very, very critical first step for the State of California. Im proud that today the Assembly acted in a bi-partisan way to respond to the crisis that faces all Californians. Heres more in this Assembly Access video.
