@diannagrana1 Well said, my Dear. I was a boyish 29 when "Ol' Blue Eyes" came out in 1973, young, and in love, of course. There was so much of life I had still to learn. Frank truly sums this up with this song !

@annjeepers Well said, needs no further analysis.

Sinatra sings about life like no other has ever done before or since. There will never be another, ever! "The lovin' was easy; it's the livin' that's hard..." you cannot get to the essence of anything with greater clarity.

Thanks so much for posting this lovely ballad by Frank. I heard this song from the album "o'l blue eyes is back" when i was 7 years old & still love it the same today !
Sinatra ,always will be the top of the charts forever !!! What we have today ? Lady GaGa , britney ? They are ok but they will never top the talent of Frank, & others in his era. Long live swing !!!

My father played this when I was 12 - it made an impression on me then and still does now. "The loving was easy, it's the living that's hard ..." Such a beautiful song about a sad situation.
I instantly liked this song when I first heard it on the radio in 1973. The melody and the lyrics tugged at your heartstrings. The way Frank Sinatra sang this song was beautifully sad and melancholic. I'm a sucker for this theme. It's forever been in my playlist : tape, CD, ipod, etc. This is one of my favorite Frank Sinatra songs...just feeling the nuances of sadness and finality of a love affair in his voice...

...So much truth in words of this song... The phrase "The lovin' was easy; it's the livin' that's hard..." tells it all... Kris Kristofferson is a great songwriter! Lyricist, orchestra and Sinatra are worthy each other!
