While walking by the milkweed patch in Kenilworth Park (just outside Pottstown, PA) I found a monarch butterfly chrysalis so I thought it would be fun to do a little photo documentary by taking pictures each day as it developed. The last day I was in for a very pleasant surprise when it hatched right in front of me! I quick put my digital camera into movie mode and recorded it emerging.

I took the picture of the caterpillar about a week before I found the chrysalis and judging by the spot it's in I think it may be one that made the chrysalis. It appeared to be creating some webbing as if to anchor itself.
