Its our weekly water survival class with my daughters at our pool. Today they practiced a drown proofing exercise wherein we simulated that the water is too deep for them to reach and kick up and down to get their breaths, instead, they will try to maintain waterline bouyancy and then bob their heads to breathe as needed. Note that I did not tie their hands this time since both Kix and Kux will do the exercise together and i wouldn't be able to attend to them both at the same time in the event of an emergency.

  • A really nice demonstration of the technique.

But it is not possible to show, in a short video, that they could easily continue like this for an hour or more.

It is normal to use the arms as well - this advanced technique shows that it is easy to survive even when injured.

These girls are obviously having fun and are happy and confident, but grabbing one of them by the neck and pushing her away is something I would prefer not to see here.

Find out more by Googling “Drownproofing”.
