President Richard Nixon addresses the nation and beckons the American people and people of all nations to rally together in the pursuit of everlasting peace. In a period of unprecedented international conflict, the President proclaims to the nation and the world that his administration will move forward under the banner of unity in an attempt to thwart the hatreds that divide the world.

  • The colors are ridiculous

  • @TheGladstone1898 Yes, mainly because of China and the Soviet Union and despite Cambodia and Vietnam, his foreing policy was better than JFK's LBJ's and all presidents from Ford-Obama.

  • @mr19932001 His foreign policy was good? Try telling that to the thousands of Americans, Cambodians and Vietnamese that were killed for no reason other than so him and Kissinger could claim 'Peace with Honour' for the next election.

  • I believe this inauguration was the first to be televised in color? Supposedly, JFK's was the first in color, but all the networks televised the address in b&w, only the parade was in color. AFAIK, LBJ's inauguration (1965) was also in b&w.

Does anyone know if color videotape of the 1961 inaugural parade still exists, and if JFK is in it?

  • I love Pat's purple lipstick !

  • @xIegionx Yes, Nixon may've fucked up with watergate and I'll go as far as saying his economic policies kinda sucked, but his foreign policy was probbably the best we had since FDR. W. failed economically, probablly the worst since Herbert Hoover in that area, lied about WMDs in Iraq and illegally brought the country to war, did nothing to prevent 9/11, and did noting to help people after Katrina. Obama's policies aren't working, granted he's trying, and he continued Bush's foreign policy.

  • @mr19932001 Nixon over Bush and Obama

  • @xIegionx George W. Bush.

  • @davleuv Who wouldn't we take over Obama? HA

  • Dick Nixon wasn't a bad president. He was a slightly above average president. I would take him over uncurious George W and yes even Obama anyday.
