Gergen: "I don't think we've had a time since Nixon left office when people were so relieved to see the end of a presidency and welcome in a new president"

Rollins: "This is a president who thought was going to be historic and do better than his father. He wasn't going to make the mistakes like his father. He was going to be more like Reagan. And he has failed as miserably as any president in modern times"

For a president who took more vacations (77) than gave press conferences (47), Bush is giving an onslaught of interviews and press conferences trying to defend his actions from the past 8 years.

  • @edub4111 the main blame though goes to the govoner of the state, they was the ones slow to ask for help from the president, they was slow at doing a state of emergency, which the president cant even go into there unless they do that, so most of the blame is on the gov. of the state

  • What a total jackass. At least he was partially contrite by this time in his term of office (though it took him a long time). But how incompetent a response to katrina, when they had days warning, and that had the audacity to say he was proud of Brownie. The guy who once said he couldnt think of any mistakes his Admin made. What a jackass

  • Sure Bush, 30,000 were pulled off roofs - Excellent response and thank god that happened BUT as usual he is missing the point. NEW ORLEANS SHOULD HAVE NEVER FLOODED IN THE FIRST PLACE! - Federal Governments fault

  • @ashleyrh Are you serious? How quick Americans are to pounce on each other. When Katrina hit all of a sudden New Orleans wasnt part of America? As if welfare is an issue Plaguing only the WONDERFUL city of New Orleans? This was an AMERICAN tragedy.....and yes people hit by Katrina WERE victims. Not sure what else you can call them.

  • Love that Cooper mentions Katrina....how about the 'victims' of Katrina take responsibility for themselves!!!!! Wow!!! Not enough welfare checks to go around!!!??

  • He had to give one more kick to Louisiana. Just more of the same. History WILL judge you George and it will not make your descendents happy.
