LVL 304 {you can't run from the future}

Kale (JARED PADALECKI) has travelled to California to live with his mother following the whole prom night ordeal. He's working on his laptop when his cousin Samantha (CANDICE ACCOLA) drops in to visit him. Aggravated that she's followed him when he's trying to get some alone time, he asks her why she's there. She tells him that she knows he's running from something since she's known him since they were kids and can tell when something's bothering him. Although she knows he's upset and doesn't want to talk about whatever it was, she thinks he should face his past in order to overcome it.

Tess (HILARIE BURTON) tells Axel (PENN BADGLEY) that he needs to go to his friend's funeral. He tells her that he can't do that when they're supposed to be getting married on that same day. She tells him not to worry about that and to honor his friend's memory. They can reschedule the wedding for a later date.

Fritz (CHACE CRAWFORD) finally gets the opportunity to introduce his old friend Phoenix (JESSICA LOWNDES) to his girlfriend Shayne (LEIGHTON MEESTER). He takes Phoenix to Denver's house - where Shayne is taking care of her friend - to introduce them. However, when Phoenix sees Denver, she freaks out and leaves, making the others wonder what's wrong with her. Why did she leave just at the sight of Denver's face? What secret is she hiding, and what does it have to do with Denver?

Delilah (BLAKE LIVELY) confronts Max (SHAUN SIPOS) and tells him she needs to know why he's in town. She hopes that he's enough of a good person on the inside that he will tell her the truth. He tells her he has returned because neither of them can run from what they did any longer. What did they do that was so horrible?

While Raleigh (SOPHIA BUSH) is out of town visiting colleges, Lennox goes out to a bar and gets himself drunk. He has tried to forget what Raleigh said about being nonexclusive, but he can't. While drinking at the bar, he meets a lovely blonde and makes out with her.
