http://www.DerrickSiu.com. I was fortunate to be part of the Team Word entry for the Singapore arm of the 48 Hour Film Project. Led by Waikit, a group of us 'wordies' got together over the weekend of the 31st April to the 2nd of May and made a short film in 48 hours!!! Always wanted to be part of one of these competitions, and I'm definitely glad I participated. . Great fun and surprising what a team of people can put together in a weekend! :)

Word:

On the night of the debrief we were told of the requirements that must be included in the film:

Line: Well, That Certainly Changes Things.
Prop: Pillow

Everyone also had to draw a genre from a hat and we got horror!

Ideas started from 7pm and moulded into a storyline by midnight when all the team members finally got together. We then split up tasks while some of us went out to get props required, the rest of us starting blocking out the story and developing the characters. Finally we started shooting around 4am. Unfortunately none of the footage was good enough. so after wrapping at about 8am Waikit (our trusty DOP, Director and editor) went hope and wrote out a script ready for us to shoot later on saturday at 11pm.

We shot from 11pm till about 8.30am, and despite Waikit not getting home till about 10am and even having a half hour nap, we managed to get our film in on time by 7pm that day!

All the finished entries were screened at a proper cinema - This was very exciting to have my first film shown in a proper cinema, nay an Imax Screen at the GV Cinema! Plus we got selected for the final screening and Won Best Acting (Ensemble) and Best Directing Singapore 2010.

  • hi,

my name s Yossi and im a musician from Israel. both as a fusion/rock bass player and an orchestral composer.

i got by chance to this film, and it looks very well and it sounds like fun too do.

is there a reason that there ware no music credits?

  • @goingtobe Hi sorry for late reply. . the reason was, cuz the editor just used loops and royalty free tracks from apple's program called soundtrack :)

  • @gwalchmei very well, im into film scoring. so in the future, if theres more films, please let me know. this year the Israel philharmonic orchestra have performed a concerto of mine by the name 'Freakollo". just go to my channel and watch it it has 2 parts and its just 12 minuts long (please listen to both of them, their mood is different) and sounds a bit like John Williams music. the othe things there also, like me plaing the bass guitar and soe more music. thanks and have fun

  • @goingtobe haha yeah. I'm the dude found dead in the tub...

  • @gwalchmei was you involved in this film also?

  • @goingtobe Hey there, the whole film was made by those you saw in the film and 1 more guy. If we were to put credits for all that went into it, you'd just see our names over and over again. :)
