  • "Whom" is an object pronoun. Most Americans usually don't use it (including me). Here's an example:

    Whom did she choose in the election? "She" is the subject; "whom" is the object.

    "Whom" is also used when a preposition comes before it: To whom was the letter sent? (I would never say that. Instead, I'd say "Who was the letter sent to?")
