Blessing in Disguise as sung by Susan Ashton, Margaret Becker, and Christine Dente on the album Along the Road. Song written by Gordon Kennedy, Wayne Kirkpatrick, and Billy Sprague.

Blessing in Disguise

In the deep of the dark
You fell in as the heart of your world
Went down in flames
To a cauldron of pain
Seeing no way out
And as you walked through the fire
Losing even desire
It was like a dying swan
To look at you then
But look at you now

You have found a new lease on life
A stronger step and a curious calm on your face
That you wear as if to say

Chorus:

You can rise from the ashes again
You can rise to the morning that breaks in your eyes
For what looked like your heart's demise
Has turned out to be
A blessing in disguise

It has worked for the good
Like you heard that it could
But it was hard, so hard to believe
Standing among the ruins of a dream
But from here looking back
You can see clearly that
You can gain from things that you lose
And learn many ways by many means

And you have been an inspiration to me
And all the volumes of hope
Your revival can speak
Will always say to me

Chorus

It's turned out to be
A blessing in disguise

  • Great song and video that really is a blessing in disguise.

    Thanks so much!

  • @shalimarsgirl The song really does speak to us about taking it all in God's grace and growing through the good and the bad. I appreciate your kindly including the video in your comment and am glad that the images were a blessing, too.

  • WOW ... you have NO idea how absolutely perfect this song is for ME for this very day! Thank you for posting it and thank the Lord for showing it to me TODAY!!!

  • @mnhzmazingrace No, other than your stating such, I don't...but, God, who deserves the credit, clearly made use of various resources to meet your need. I am glad to be of service - thanks for watching and commenting.

  • Shoulda known Wayne Kirkpatrick was involved in this song. He's done a lot with Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant. What a talented writer!

  • @Sisterzeal I have been looking everywhere for TAB's for these songs! Do you have any pointers, or sites that could help?

  • Far as I know, it's STILL ILLEGAL to post recordings of copyrighted material. Even when it's a well-meant as this, you're still breaking the law. Please research this topic. It's the little people who get hurt.

  • Yes I lived in part because of this music.....and learned many of them on guitar. check out "You never change" by Laura S

  • It's a keeper. There are several more of the songs from this album on this channel. I hope to make videos for all of them.

  • One of my all time favorite albums....of all time...
