This is my second Adder Kiss video. You will notice that in both videos the snakes are preparing to slough (shed their skin). During this process the old outer eye scale lifts from the eye and fluid builds up underneath. This helps with the sloughing process.
At this time their vision becomes impared and you are able to get a lot closer than normal, sometimes very close!
You should nerver get complacent though as they are super fast, especially when they have been basking in the sun.
Wildlife and wildlife photography is my life. I love all wildlife, but my passion is and always will be for our native snakes.
Please enjoy this close encounter and remember, Adders are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, schedule 5, from Trade, Injury and Killing.
@MrReggub Thanks Mike. Will be good to meet up again soon.
