This is a small robot of which I put together and coded.
It is run by a Basic Stamp 2 microprocessor coded in PBasic.
The chassis is an old RC car with all the electronics removed, only wires and motors left.
For the GPS data I used a Garmin Foretrex 101 and for object avoidance I used ultrasonic rangers.
Still has room for improvement, but it is a good start.

Where to buy the electronic parts in the UK:
* Controller - Basic Stamp 2 - http://www.warburtech.com/
* Ultrasound - Devantec SRF02 - http://www.warburtech.com/ or http://www.active-robots.com
* Relays/Wires/"power" transistors - rswww.com or any electronics/electrical shop
* NMEA enabled GPS - Anywhere

  • I did a very similar project, check it out: IA111 gps (search at youtube)

    Are you still working on it?

    Good job!

  • @soapyCatfish Thanks! IA111 is an interesting project. Well done!

    No, I've moved on to much more challenging projects, I am currently trying to automate a Hexakopter to fly around indoors as part of my doctorate (have a look at my more recent videos)

  • amazing job! can you send me a guide on how to do this?

  • @giorgosellas I am in the middle of writing a guide on how to build the robot. I will let you know as soon as it is finished.

  • Hi I'm working on a similar project for my degree and currently decided to use c++ to program and using a MN5010HS GPS module and a GPS antenna. I was wondering If I could have a guide on this? Thanks.

  • you're like me man, flying and robotics lol, that is quite a feat to run all of that on a BS2

  • it's amazing ! can you plz send me the guide how to build this robot ? thanks

  • That's so cute. It's like a lost puppy.

  • Nice Job! I did something similar with an R/C boat. I was amazed at how simple and easy the basic stamp was to program.

    btw can I get a copy of your source code? I'd eventually like to put this in an R/C plane.

  • Good

  • That's hard program to do this, my robot will be hafe GPS iblue 747 a+ and compass sensor and NXC code... =)
