A Montreal Metro train departs Square-Victoria station, bound for Côte-Vertu station on the Orange Line. I do so enjoy that sound - it's like a trumpet virtuoso being given thunderous applause. If only Toronto had something similar.
@moosewelch
They're keeping a simulated doudoudou sound for closing doors , but since motor technology has evolved since 1976 , the doudoudou sound it made while starting up won't remain.

@moosewelch Hmm, I never knew that. Usually when there's a new technology the sounds shouldn't be the same. Let's not forget these type of trains (like in your video - MR-73) are from the 70's. That's what everybody says in forums.

@MTLtransitvideos That's odd... the man in the factory that's making the new Metro cars said explicitly.. that the "dou-dou-dou" sound will remain.. Where did you hear otherwise?

This sound will soon disappear from Montreal... :( The new metros are coming in 2014, plus a demo in 2013.

"...a trumpet virtuoso being given thunderous applause." What a wonderful way to describe it! I've always loved that sound.
