The company is selling shit and cannot afford to loose the sale of that piece of shit. Speed guns work on the doppler effect and it is very true that moving the speed gun will add slip, adding or subtracting to the reading taken.One very expensive way of eliminating slip is to add accelerometers inside the speed gun to detect and counteract hand movement but it is extremely expensive. Speed cameras are a hinderance and at best a distraction.

the guns and mounted radar will give ''ghost'' readings where the readings are higher. also, the greater the angle your bouncing the lazer off the lower the speed in some cases and higher in others

@Djhg2000 I guess it all depends on how accurate the accelerometers are, the one's I know are expensive are used in navigational instruments and their accuracy have to be tight as a duck's proverbial as the signal is monitored over long duration whereas speed cameras can get away with using inferior accelerometers as the signal is only monitored for seconds. I think it comes down as it's not cost effective to get innocent people off the hook but to screw them instead

@TalkToTheBody The accelerometers themselves are dirt cheap, literally in the range of cents.

Implementing it in the software would cost a little, but at those volumes it shouldn't affect the price too much.

Something as simple as detecting a shaky hand should suffice.

Total cost over 1000 units?

Sensors: about $10-50, depending on features

Software: $3000-$1000000 depending on the skill, laziness and greediness of the developer(s)

Even if youre going 1km over the speed limit, you're flashed.

Our police in this small town also has 5 ghost chars, 1 of the cars is a dodge challenger, and they also have a labelled challenger. Why the fuck we have such expensive cars in this town of 65,000 people is beyond me. Now they have cameras at traffic lights in every location.

Im more focus on my dash/speed than the actual road these days.

Urban myth??

Strathclyde Police with a handheld device are concentrating on speeding motorists near an RAF airbase. The speed gun manages to pick up a signal from a Harrier jet taking off on an exercise and with the anti-lock on tech, manages to fry the circuitry on the speed gun. S. Police send RAF a bill for the replacement device, and gets a reply saying your man is lucky the Harrier wasnt armed as it has an auto missile launch aimed at radar source.
