Part 1 (of 2) of my second video demonstrating how to cut hair out of a background using Adobe Photoshop. This tutorial uses (mainly) a combination of Replace Colour, Levels and the Blending Options Menu. The subject has very fine but vivid red hair - the former works against us and the latter in our favour. A full write-up of the process with screenshots can be found at my training website, address on the video. Follow on Twitter @GraphicDesignCV

  • Great tut a little complicated for a novice, but as another poster said it doesn't have a white background, which most of the images I want to select all have a complicated background. thanks.

  • yay, a tut to remove a background that finally isnt simply purely a white background

  • BKWAASSSSSS,,,,,

  • ctrl+j is duplicate too

  • @chiongzz03 if you haven't figured it out yet, you can select two layers by pressing shift and clicking them. Or, if you need to select two or more layers that aren't next to each other, you can select them by pressing ctrl and clicking the layers you want to select.

  • how can I select the two top layers, i can only select one,by the way is that CS3??
