To the memory of Gramps...I'll always remember you!
The song is from a 1944 AFRS air check of Jo Stafford singing at a USO show.

  • I wish Bob Dylan would record these songs from the 40's and the big band era and WWII. His parents listened and he listened and a huge number of people are still alive and they are listening, and their children and their grandchildren and their greatgrandchildren. It's not impossible for a rock and roll idol to record these songs. It's a sort of folk music for a massive audience.

  • I would love to see Bob Dylan tackle some of Spike Jones's hits.

  • Me too am grandfather.I would like my grandchilds will remember me so. What tender and nice voice of Jo Stanford. Y qué hermoso tema. Gracias, Wanda.

  • No hay de que (^__^)

  • thank you so much , really wonderful

  • So glad you liked it!

  • Bless you for posting this beautiful song and your wonderful video. Love them both.

  • Brilliantly evocative visuals, and wistful singing from the incomparable Jo Stafford. Thank you for posting this.

  • I wish Bob Dylan had stopped singing after his creative period ended, about 1965. If you think he could sing these 40's songs, you must be nuts.

I had the satisfaction of walking out of his concert at the San Francisco Masonic Auditorium in that year.

Dylan - a classic sell-out. But so are most of us, those who are still here.

Jo Stafford, on the other hand, was a REAL talented singer, not a sell-out. Columbia and Capitol records. Took the bus to work every morning.

  • Wanda, I love this video, makes me cry every time I watch for all the brave men who gave us our freedom so long ago. Not many of them left now. Your grandpa must have been very special.

  • Wanda, what a lovely and loving tribute to your grandfather, the people of his great generation, and to war time romances.Gramps would be proud......Glenn

  • Beautiful pictures of the early fighter P40 Tomahawk, and the best fighter of WWII, the P51 Mustang.....not to mention of wonderful voice of Jo Stafford.......

  • Excellent recording, and I like the background plane photos. I'd like to paint one of them! Tony
