My Yamaha raptor 660R upgraded in terms of lighting from the original to the newer generation yfz450 and added hid projectors, and hid components.

That's cool and all, I was thinking about doing that a long time ago. But my only concern was, with the projector, it has a razor sharp cutoff. Well? I am not sure I want a precise cutoff and not be able to see a branch, or anything like a dead leaning tree. It's cool, but not for my kind of riding. HID with the stock headlight for me. Nice bike and video..

i saw that issue in the near future so i installed a moveable shield for the second design.
It has a small solenoid in each projector that removes the shield and basically turns it into an hid high beam.
The oem switch was 3 positions
0 (off) LED DRL are on front only, nothing on in rear
1 low beam (hid) and rear lights
2 shield moves out of the way, HID high + rear lights
this video is of the first design, ive just been super busy since i recently moved.

why else? to see better at night. Plus it looks a lot better and its much brither than the stock setup.
Thats like me asking people who upgrade their shocks and other components.
"Why did u upgrade?, did your quad not have shocks or something"
"Why did you get a big bore kit? your quad didnt have a cylinder already?"
Clearly lights mean nothing to u and thats cool. But when ure in the woods, they help.
But whatever, this is what youtube is made for so at least i answered your "question".
