Bio of Dr. Finkelstein:
Dr. Finkelstein was born to a Jewish family. His mother, MarylaHusyt Finkelstein, survived the Warsaw Ghetto, the Majdanek concentration camp, and two slave labor camps. Norman's father, Zacharias Finkelstein, was a survivor of both the Warsaw Ghetto and the Auschwitz concentration camp. Finkelstein recalls his strong youthful identification with the outrage that his mother, witness to the genocidal atrocities of World War II, felt at the carnage wrought by the United States in Vietnam. Finkelstein's work has attracted a number of supporters and detractors across the political spectrum. Notable supporters include Noam Chomsky, prominent intellectual and political critic; Raul Hilberg, Holocaust historian; and AviShlaim, Israeli New Historian. According to Hilberg, Finkelstein displays "academic courage to speak the truth when no one else is out there to support him... I would say that his place in the whole history of writing history is assured, and that those who in the end are proven right triumph, and he will be among those who will have triumphed, albeit, it so seems, at great cost."

  • @ISEL333 Lets pretend for a fraction of a second that your version of history is the "truth history" as you put it. Does that then justify the apartheid state that is israel? That is all Dr. Finklestein argues. History aside, the actions and policies of israel and america promote worldwide unrest/uneasiness. Are you picking up what I'm laying down?? BTW I accidentally voted up your reply...CAN SOMEONE DO ME A HUGE FAVOR AND UNDO THAT.

  • Anyone noticed that when palestine was under Muslim control no conflicts of this scale happened. Only when we Christians and the Jews took over all this murder of children began.

  • Dr. Norman Finkelstein is a remarkable human being and he dare to speak the truth. Shame on the Muslim world esp their leaders who "boot lick" the zionist and the West for their own survival. Those who critized him knows that he speak the TRUTH. PEACE NOT WAR.

  • Whether he is of Jewish faith or not, appears to be far less relevant to him than are his guiding Moral Values and Ethical Principles.

A true 'Rebel' is one who selflessly challenges Injustice, regardless.

His profound sense of Humanity was undoubtedly nurtured early in life by his mother and what she came away with from her own persecution under the Nazis.

As with all genuine rebels, he will be hailed and remembered long after he has gone.

  • What a remarkable Being.

Resolve such as this unequivocally emanates from a very deep seated sense of Humanity.

He unwaveringly challenges with a banner of Morality and Ethics in one hand and Factual Truths in the other.

Such a Noble individual, to stand against many of those within his own religious faith, knowing them to be Wrong.

This can only be true Righteousness.

  • @ISEL333

Didnt you cease to be the chosen people after straying from God's path? Dont the scriptures make this clear?

  • @gatecomingdown You obviously weren't there nor did you watch the video because, being that I was actually in the vicinity, I know for a fact he had no trouble speaking after the small difficulties with the mic and that the event went off without a hitch. I'm sorry that a small politically-themed student group (not the AV club) can't control sudden and random technical difficulties in a building they don't own. Maybe you can pray to God that it doesn't happen when you have him, which you won't.

  • @Cwestlov Hey asshole yourself your the jack ass that completely screwed up the speaking engagement of one

the most prominent intellectuals of our time this task is clearly beyond you let someone else do it it's not your on the job training.Go practice on someone less prolific and watch your mouth you incompetent loser.

  • @Cwestlov

hahaha were you the organizer of the talk?

  • @gatecomingdown Hey asshole, I do believe technical difficulties can happen at any moment, quite unexpectedly. Can't wait for your event when you host Dr. Finkelstein though.
