  • What happened to Hirshhorn? Did he stop playing long before he died?

  • He passed away at age 50 of, apparently, a brain tumor. I don't know if he stopped long before, but he was also teaching violin at the Brussels Conservatory. There are several very, very good violinists nowadays, few have the same musical & technical gifts, but none of them has this magical, hypnotical, charistmatic power Hirshhorn had when he was playing. I think M. Maisky would agree with me ...

  • Divine . twotea22 , please post more with him . I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing him live . One of the greatest artists ....

  • There are only 2 fragments where he is playing in this documentary and which are now on YouTube. There are a few scenes with an interview with him just shortly before he passed away, but I'm hesitating to put them online ... let's say that to me it is a matter of respect ...

  • Please, reconsider your decision and put some more videos of Hirshhorn on youtube. I think, the world should know more about such an amazing talent, his magical and beautiful violin playing. Me and my family are wathing these couple of videos over and over. We have heard him live in Riga - Latvia, when he was very young. It was magical

  • all the intresting stuff i have is on YouTube. I, myself would be extremely happy to find more concertmaterial ... maybe there others? please???

  • hi, I have studied with Hirsschorn, his last years of his life. He had 2 operations caused by braintumor. after the first operation he had to reduce his performing.

It was really a nightmare to me when he died.

It s lovely , his sound. perfect.

  • Very...few violinists make the violin..speaking,like this!!!

    Is very deep....

    poicpi

  • Awesome! TY.

  • There was bartok solosonata broadcasted once at dutch television but many years ago. It should be around somewhere...

  • oh hush!!!

  • his recital of bach, geminiani, etc are so good due.... for the recital music i strongly suggest making them FLAC files...so no sound quality is lost... audacity is a free player where you can play those types of files...and of course always have the volume cranked!!! just remember to stop it soon before the thunder of the crowd explodes on you after his performance of Tzigane

  • Omgosh where is the other 40 minutes of the Paganini Concerto or the Senerade Concertante, or the Geminiani? I need to fly to Brussels and hunt for it! This is the best violinist ever...I hate saying best but man after listening to countless of each generation.. none have captivated me like Hirshhorn, .... Hassid, Ysaye, Shumsky, Seidel feed me but Hirshhorn has all the top concertos on recording.. His paganini, sibelius, tchaikovsky, brahms, beethoven, berg, are treasures...

  • His entire Geminiani is on YT now

  • and I yours...and I am so glad you left a comment here, because now I get to listen to this wonderful piece as I have my coffee..this is like heaven.
