I am a former teaching assistant at the University of Florida. This video was made to have a standing lesson for how to sign the national anthem like we do at commencement ceremonies and sporting events at UF. I hope students enjoy! For the "gallantly" line, please refer to the comments for it was lost in the editing of the video.

Here is the gloss for the national anthem:

Oh, Say can you see by the dawns early light
(R) INFORM-ME CAN YOU-ALL SEE SUNRISE

What so proudly we hailed at the twilights last gleaming
(R) IT PROUD WE HONOR PAST SUNSET

Whose broad stripes and bright stars
(R) IT CL: C (MODIFIED 1 FINGER, DRAW STRIPES)++ (2) STAR (2) ++BRIGHT

Through the perilous fight
HAPPEN DANGER(3) WAR++ (L-R-L)

Ore the ramparts we watched
RAMPART (3) WATCH (over rampart 3X)

Were so gallantly streaming
FANCY++ (3X) FLAG-WAVE

And the rockets red glare
RED FIRE-ROCKET+++++

The bombs bursting
BOMB BURST+++ (filter down R-L)

Gave proof through the night
(R) PROVE++ HAPPEN ALL-NIGHT

That our flag was still there
OUR CONTINUE FLAG-WAVE

O say does that star spangled banner yet wave
(R) INFORM-ME TRUE STAR (3) CL:C+++ (2) CONTINUE WAVE

Oer the land of the free
OVER LAND BELONG FREE PEOPLE

And the home of the brave
HOME BELONG YOU-ALL PATRIOTIC

  • @djorlando64 keep me updated!!

  • @djorlando64 Good luck!! You're going to do amazing. Thank you for making my day everytime that you comment. Please do try to video tape it if possible. I'll be thinking about you tomorrow and sending you good wishes!!

  • @djorlando64 You can wear a suit if it's appropriate to but I've always worn either red, white and blue or jeans and a club t-shirt for the organization I was representing at the time. Just be sure to wear a solid color for your shirt as to not distract from your beautiful signing!

  • @djorlando64 You are awesome for being so appreciative. I wish you all the best! You should really get someone to video tape you doing it and post it on here as a response so I can see you perform. That would be soo fantastic!

  • @djorlando64 No you're not wrong. Look down at the previous comments, I explain it there.

  • @djorlando64 You do whatever makes you feel comfortable!
