and it looks set to stir up quite the storm.

Hello, this is my entry in the Lenovo Thinkpad W700 'The Beast' competition. The W700 has stupendously mindboggling firepower, so of course I'd love one!

This clip in its entirety has been made on a somewhat more humble machine - a Thinkpad Z61M.
Thanks for watching my entry - there's heaps to be done better, but I only heard about this competition a few days ago, so every day is of the essence.
To also try your hand at a short video clip: http://www.lenovo.com.au/create/ - open to us Southern Hemisphere guys only, though. If you put one up, give me a video response so I can check it out!

  • Sweet machine. Be a nice replacement for my old Sony.

  • It also looks like a replacement for central heating *g*

I'm still trying to justify this machine to my employer, or girl, or myself even - but it does have that distinct DO-WANT! factor.

(Then again, with a Sony, you're already used to paying a premium, eh?) =)

  • Ah, my Sony's semi-old, small, and slow, but gets *amazing* battery life with the long-life cel on it. It's for connectivity, not heavy processing.

  • Heh - touché!

I did opt for the bigger battery for the z61m, but after two and a half years, two and a half hours is really all I get out of it on battery.

The W series of thinkpads is prolly not designed to be used off the grid, really - I'd be surprised if the 700 could do more than two hours, tops.

On the other hand, didn't they also have a model they claimed could do *eight*hours*? Humm.

Battery Life vs Raw Firepower - now here's a dilemma!

  • Best computer EVERRRRR

  • well, or until they come out with the w1000 =)

  • Fully outfitted with everything they can possibly fit in there, my guess would be three and a half K US?

  • no, but do a search for "lenovo w700" in the upper right hand corner, and you'll find some pretty neat reviews.

(And someone playing NFS on it, heh)

  • I've been true to thinkpads for a decade now, yeah.

  • This video - this week.

    The laptop - September 2008, I think.

  • When did this come out?
