Take a tour of Procida Island in Gulf of Naples in Naples, Italy - part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.

Four dormant volcanoes formed Procida Island in the middle of the Gulf of Naples, off the coast of Italy. Procida Island is only 1.5 square miles, but has been coveted and ruled by many groups over the course of its history.

The island was once occupied by the Mycene settlers of Greece before becoming a resort for Roman patricians.

The island often came under fire during battles between Napoleon´s France and England.

In modern times, the islands main trade of shipbuilding has steadily increased, along with its increasing reputation as a resort destination.

Procida has been the setting of several books, movies, and wars, making it a popular location.
