Flat cheeks can make a face look lifeless and dull. Prominent cheekbones are prized features in Western culture and are pervasive in media images of beautiful women. Cheek implants can help enhance a face and restore or create improved facial balance and harmony. Dr. Lam's philosophy is to target in particular younger men and women who desire this change, as older individuals have grown accustomed to the way they look, and cheek enhancement may make them look a bit "different." However, with the proper consultation and understanding, Dr. Lam will guide you in the best option for you.
For the mature patient who desires restoration of a sunken cheek, Dr. Lam prefers to apply advanced techniques in facial fat enhancement rather than placement of cheek implants to restore this loss. Fat enhancement along selective areas of facial fat loss can restore and enhance the aging face more naturally and evenly.
Chin enhancement can restore or create improved facial balance and harmony. In particular, a "weak" chin on a man may feminize the face and may even unjustifiably carry negative psychological overtones about his character. For the female, a weak chin may make a prominent nose appear even more so. Combining chin enhancement with cosmetic nose surgery may provide the ideal solution to perfecting one's profile while maintaining proper relationship between facial structures. For the individual with a relatively short neck, chin enhancement can provide the illusion of a longer neck and thereby improve one's profile. Neck liposuction in these individuals may further enhance the intended cosmetic benefit. For the maturing face, chin enhancement can provide a framework around which the lower face is supported and lifted. However, Dr. Lam does not routinely believe in combining chin enhancement with facial rejuvenative procedures, like facelifting, as chin augmentation can make a person who has grown acclimated to the way he or she appears at times look somewhat "different".

i want my face thinner and my cheeks not so round. i hate my cheeks!

@cdevilx hard to reduce a cheek. sometimes that is because either one of three things: you are young and have baby fat, you are slightly heavier, or you were born that way. sometimes filling areas that are smaller on your face can actually make the cheeks look smaller without reducing them. that is what i call facial balance.

if I want my face to look longer/narrower, should I have fillers injected into the apple of my cheeks or more to the side to create cheekbones?

@dj6658 this is a hard question. i think someone needs to see your face in person to make that decision and do a proper consultation.
