Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among men in the United States. In 2008, it is estimated that more than 186,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, and 28,660 will die of the disease.
Since September is National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, I would like to take this opportunity to share what we know about prostate cancer early detection and help you understand what the American Cancer Society and others recommend in regards to this disease. The most important thing to remember about early detection testing for prostate cancer is that men should decide with their doctor if testing is right for them.
