Absolutely brilliant , I am also learning the whole Concerto, and this performance is breathtaking. Well done to all the performers.

@almostlasse123 Could have been the other way around. Grieg wrote his Piano Con. in 1868 long before he heard of Tchakovsky's music. Incidentally, they both met in 1888 and liked each other personally and professionally.

I think the ending of this song is perfectly wonderful as is. Traditionally, when Grieg wrote this piece and when it was first performed, there was a lack of technology and the use of a microphone was not an option. I've heard several other professional versions of this piece, and the orchestra always seems to drown out the piano arpeggios and scalar runs at the end. It is the nature of the piece and how Grieg wrote it. Accept it people. It is beautiful as is.

Excellent pianist, wonderful performance. . I had not heard of him until this performance. It IS true that the orchestra tended to overshadow him throughout, expecially in the coda to the finale. Too much reverberation in this concert hall.

I'm about to enter my junior year in high school, and am hoping to take up a major in piano performance upon graduation. Before I graduate, I have decided that I will play at least one movement from this concerto with my local symphony.
To the performer and orchestra - an absolutely beautiful and breathtaking performance. I've never heard a concerto that held such emotion, as most concertos, in my opinion, are too overly technical, and lose the feeling music should have.

beautiful

I hope the day never comes that I watch this video and it doesn't make me smile. That would have to be a very dismal, horrible day indeed. That was a worthy performance. The heart of the pianist and orchestra together make it one of my favorites.

this is not hard unfortunately so have to disagree n agree with the argument carried by comments before

bravo! incredible! i've to agree though that the piano should've had a mic. the passages were muted by the orchestra near the ending.

Good performance, but I wish there could have been a mic near or in the piano, because the orchestra drowns the piano in the fortissimo sections.
Overall a good performance of one of my favorite Piano Concertos.
