I guess it was several years before a 2nd bridge could be built- We were essentially on the cusp of WW II and neither the building materials or manpower would be available.

For accuracy's sake, the comment towards the end of the video regarding the toll booths on the existing 1950 bridge seen in your photo being the same ones as on the 1940 Galloping Gertie bridge is not correct- new toll booths were built in 1949. Also, the comment with your photo of the concrete Gertie remains on the shore is not accurate. Only the underwater remains are protected; nothing on the shore such as the concrete you show is protected at all.

You are right about the toll. They had to destroy the anchors when they built the second bridge but I wonder if they kept the same roof and toll booths in the middle since they are similar in design as the 1940 version was.
Just about everything on that beach might be protected since the area has been declared a park by the D.O.T. as well as Pierce County. I'm sure those pieces see the water when the tide comes in. I noticed recently the whole hilside is littered with concrete as well.
