2008 Trespass Snowboard / Skiercross Championships and Big Air Jam

The British Snow Tour made its final stop of the dryslopes series over the weekend, 19th & 20th July at Norfolk Ski Club for the Trespass British Snowboard & Skiercross Championships and Big Air Jam. The locals were out in force and competition was fierce as riders went head-to-head in the four way races, with some spectacular wipe-outs along the way. Over at the Trespass Lesson Academies 200 beginners inspired by the high-speed action took advantage of the FREE lessons up for grabs.

Trespass Skiercross Championships
The hotly contested Trespass Skiercross Championships opened up Sunday's competition with a huge number of local skiers taking to the start gates to race against the clock and each other with the hopes of making it through to the finals. In the women's final it was neck and neck out of the start gates until British Skiercross silver medallist, Danielle Freeze, opened up the gap to take the lead and cruise over the line in first position. It was a close race between Claire Wheatman and Becky Hammond for second and third. Becky sneaked ahead on the final turn to take the silver leaving Claire to finish in a very close third. In the men's final, competition was fierce as the fastest four men of the day stepped up to the start gates for the final race. Local skier Robbie Debbage, whose twin brother Jamie had won the Trespass Snowboardcross Championships the day before, was determined to make it a double Debbage celebration, launching out of the start gates to take the lead. Debbage didn't look back and maintained his lead over the finish line to take the 2008 Trespass Skiercross Title. Joe Gotts who had been hot on Jamie's heels crossed the line in second, whilst Andy Bennett finished in third.

In the afternoons Big Air Jam the younger skiers were pushing the limits with big 540's and 720's being thrown down. Local ripper Tom Coe landed a textbook 720 and Lincoln Loop to take the men's under 16's Big Air Jam Title, whilst Andy Bennett's assortment of switch 720's and huge backflips secured him top spot in the over 16's category. In the women's Big Air Jam, Kelly O'Donnell landed a smooth 540 and switch 180 to take the women's title.
