I edited out John Lennon's voice from Real Love so what I have here is the backing track the Threetles made in the 90s. In the second verse there's a little surprise, probably hidden there by Jeff Lynne or Paul McCartney, it sounds like one of them.

  • This song proves that George Harrison was the best guitarist. His licks were always well placed, melodic, sometimes haunting, and always memorable. We miss you, George.

  • Love the acoustic bass, you can hear the strings clatter against the timber neck,

I stand to be corrected but i heard it was the very same stand up bass that was used on many Elvis recordings, this instrument now owned by Paul

  • How did you do this? Did you start with the 5.1? It's amazing what you've done here

  • @cchavira84 It's been documented that Paul sang high harmony to flesh out the occasionally thin vocal sound on the tape

  • is it me or does ringo look like a bird in the background

  • @kieranmichaelmercer are you sure that's not George on that harmony? It sounds like George to me.

  • @Cnat123 I think he just produced it ( I believe it's because George Martin said his hearing wasn't as good as it was before so they brought in Lynne). I thought Paul and George were doing the harmonies and Paul backed up Lennon's vocals.

  • @TheAvillain Yes, that's true. The story is that many years ago, Linda found out that Bill Black was selling his famous double bass used on many early Elvis tracks, so she bought it for Paul as a birthday present. He was deeply moved and has used that bass on several tracks.

  • @HaifischDoktor Not really a surprise. Paul was and is an excellent mimic. He can do spot-on Elvis, Little Richard and Buddy Holly voices. In fact in the early Beatle sessions, George Martin had to tell Paul to stop mimicking John when they were singing two part harmonies; he wanted to hear both voices, not two Lennon voices. On this, Paul did his Lennon voice in order to boost the weak vocals from the home cassette they had to work with.

  • @HaifischDoktor I haven't heard this song in such a long time I forgot how moving it is. I cried the whole song lol

  • I had no idea Jeff Lynne was on this track, but it comes as no surprise, he coulda been a Beatle, his ability to create a perfect pop song was on the same level as these guys.

  • I cried a little when they sang "No need to be alone" with john.
