  • Does anyone have recordings (probably it would be audio) of "Erroll's Bounce," "Erroll's Blues," and "Stairway to the Stars". If so could you post to youtube, many many thanks!! (They were released on a recording of 'up-and-coming' pianists, in the mid-50s, I think; along with some O.Peterson and Mary Lou Williams performances.)

  • These recordings are still available on records and protected by copyright, so buy records or go and see on iTunes store; you'll find the tunes for a ridiculous fee.

  • The first piece is not Mambo Carmel, fyi. Its a Blues, totally different.

  • I agree with you, Erroll plays this tune as a blues, but the first notes are coming from one of his composition called Mambo Carmel.

The problem with Erroll: he could play anything with different styles. It's what he done with this movie. I can send you the first minute of Mamb Carmel and you certainly will recognize the tune. Tell me.

    Regards

  • ERROLL's LEFT HAND is so ICONIC! superb

  • he was self taught at the age of three, and an "ear player" all his life!

  • How about the Bass Player and Drummer /To hang w/ Erroll Took sum and was not for anyone . Mambo to the Moon. Why would ERROLL need to read any Music if we could read what He palyed Noone could play it like Him ANYAWAY.

  • Audio & video out of sync

  • listen and imitate is for beginners. Real musicians create music right now or improvisate on some melody or idea. you are right for one thing - reading notes wont make you better musician, you are one or you are not :P but believe me .... knowing the notes help you :)

  • The man was a GENIUS!!!

  • No. Rather the comedian and violinist Henny Youngman. Famous for his one-liners. " Take my wife...please! "

  • I think that Stefan Grapelli leaving the stage at the very beginning...

  • he didnt even read music

  • well, you can't learn music from the sheet music. You have to listen and imitate. Otherwise you're -speaking- with a foreign accent.
