Bill Watkins, who wrote the fantastic lyrics to this song, also wrote three autobiographical books, one of which is titled "Scotland is Not for the Squeamish." Mr. Stewart likes to quote this line :)

There are probably tens of thousands of Stewarts in Scotland, and probably hundreds of Andy Stewarts. I know of two who've made a living as singers.
