US home foreclosures have spiked by more than 78 per cent in the third quarter of 2008 but it is not just homeowners who are suffering.

As Al Jazeera's Kristen Saloomey reports, those who rent are also feeling the effects of the mortgage crisis.

Wow, I've got a reply after a year later.

Obama is following Bush's legacy. We have BP disaster, unemployment is at 20% plus, many states and counties are insolvent and debts are ever increasing. By the end of Obama's administration we are likely to have a currency crisis, civil unrest and possibly the break up of America. Politicians are the worst leaders.

  • @KhmerD0g yep obama got to go he suck ass

  • i'll buy her a home damn she fine

That sounds good but it is unfair to "quote unquote greedy landlord" the Landlord has taxes to pay, insurance, community dues, upkeep, and now you expect the landlord to do all that without any income from the property? Thats unfair.

  • Renters dont let the gov. and greedy landlords steal from you! Take back the land! Squatting is becoming a real alternative, there are more then 7 million VAcant bank owned homes in the US ! Adverse possession is legal and if you can "move in" a vacant home and put a homeless family in there, isnt it better then having a family on the streets? Banks get bailed out, landlords get bailed out, what about renters? what about the millions of middle and lower class Americans? who cares about us??

  • Stop paying rent! If landlords are being selfish and greedy by pocketing rent money (instead of paying the true owner--the bank) you should stop paying them rent. If they want to screw the system thats their problem, but dont let them screw you! Dont lose your security deposit to a spineless landlord!

Your words do not impress me as those of someone who has had any traditional training or acculturation.

"Iroquois" is not a nation or people. It is the term for a confederacy of nations. No one I have ever met from those nations would claim themselves as, "Iroquois".

Since you do not know your nation nor understand any cultural imperatives I suggest you either discover them or we can simply assume you are trolling for some undiscovered reason.
