Wreckers continue to bring down the Lafayette Building in downtown Detroit on Jan. 11, 2010. The southern tower has been mostly destroyed. The Lafayette opened in 1924 and was designed by noted theater architect C. Howard Crane, who also did the Fox Theatre in Detroit. The demolition follows a lengthy preservation battle to save the unique Italian Renaissance landmark.

I know motown is in bad shape but if they keep doing this there will be nothing left of its glory days left to preserve, and second when a building goes down like this rare style a little bit of our culture dies with it, as well as the gift our ancesters strove and broke their backs to build for us to use, like an old church or civic center, they dont build them like this anymore and not to the degree of the style even when they do reproduce it.
