Circular Parabola

A parabola can be considered as an ellipse with one vertex extended exactly to infinity (but not beyond it!) When a 3D scene is shown in perspective projection this infinite line appears on the screen as a finite line (the horizon). Thus the open end of a parabola converges into a finite point on the screen.

This animation shows the parabola in such a way, that its elliptical shape is seen as a circle.
