First Lady Michelle Obama kicks off a campaign to confront the problem of childhood obesity at a YMCA in Alexandria, VA. She is joined by Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and Dr. Judith Palfrey, President of the American Academy of Pediatrics. January 28, 2010.

@hotneo7 That's a terrible idea. It undermines our independence and initiative to take care of ourselves. We don't need government's fingers in our candy. We need to be responsible, to take initiative in our own thoughts & actions. Your laws would penalize all the thin or healthy people who already take care of themselves. I would be ashamed to be part of a population so weak it relies on government to make its dietary decisions.

Fighting diabetes and obesity in America starts with policy.

1.) Make it illegal for merchants to display holiday/seasonal candy more than 30 days before Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, Easter...we don't need Halloween candies out after 4th of July, or Christmas candies before Halloween!

2.) Make it illegal to have high fructose corn syrup in all foods and drinks.

3.) Make gyms membership tax deductible as it will lower health care costs.

4.) Tax fast food to fund childhood education.
