What's disturbing about the Mysterious Stranger isn't that its "evil", its disturbing that this is what Mark Twain actually thought on his death bed. He never properly finished the book, but he genuinely believed life to be a delusion. Some believed he was near insane by the time he died he was so depressed. What's disturbing is that that wasn't Satan's words at the end, they were Twain's. Just as Tom was just a thought, so, in his mind, was he.

@legomovieman94 "Satan" translates to "the accuser" or "the opposer". Plus, Christian teachings are never really accurate on connecting their version of Satan ("evil" one) with the Biblical one. After all, Satan in Christian teachings supposedly hates god and all that is good, but in the bible Satan explicitly asks god for permission to do something and only acts after god gives god's permission. Plus, Satan is biblically recorded to have killed WAY less people than god is recorded to have.

@1Lanavis1 Really? Because I was taught that Satan was the patron demon of Wrath, which would still make him pretty bad, even if he and Lucifer are different people.

@VictorChevrestt True. I don't do it. I WILL show someone if they're being manipulated or brain washed to think and act in a way that negatively influences the world around them, including myself. That's when it turns into a problem.

@VictorChevrestt Atheism is simply a term for a person who is not controlled by any religion yet still follows the sort of moral code that is expected of such. How is that not different? I think anyone would be better off if they simply believed that being a good person is enough. It's not because someone like myself feels I'm better for not believing, I just want to help someone.
