Charles Nelson Reilly was known for playing the part of "Horatio Hoodoo" in the Sid and Marty Krofft production of "Lidsville" alongside Butch Patrick, who was "Eddie" from "The Munsters". He was also "Don-Don" from the first "Cannonball Run" with Dom Deluise and Burt Reynolds. He was a regular on "Hollywood Squares" and was also a talented voice artist, whose work will always be remembered. I had no idea he was gay, but do not really think his lifestyle makes any difference. Poor Uncle Crock...

We had the pleasure of meeting him in the 80s in Fort lauderdale at a club with my brother and he was just as funny off screen as on!
I remember coming home from school watching match game on tv around 3pm. He was the funniest on that show and him and brett sommers together (they both died the same year) were a riot! He was also on Lidsville, and was just such a talent, nobody put any emphasis on what at gay was in those days but didn't care, he was a great talent and will truly be missed! RIP

"There's a difference between being out - and owning up to it on TV (which he didn't)"

He couldn't have done that then. All he could do, and it was a lot, was make innuendo and humor and make gays look OK: they can be funny and nonthreatening

I was born in 1961, so I can't remember not knowing CNR on TV, it seems. I saw him once, at a newsstand in Studio City and he looked just as he might on camera. RIP.
