My dad took me to see this in the theater when I was 8 years old.

I love this scene. A total classic. HAL just tried killing Dave and killed all his chums. Dave is extremely pissed-off and quite livid obviously. Totally awesome how HAL is calmly trying to reason with Dave, and even admitted it was at fault when threatened. Then it's how HAL is disconnected while singing Daisy. Beautiful.

bringing Hal back to life in the sequel 2010.

This scene is very very eerie. But after what HAL did to the other crew members I would have NO trouble unscrewing his little memory diskie thingines.
