Lisa Kudrow Emotional After Learning Familys Tormented Past ' Who Do You Think You Are '

* No CopyRight Infringment Intended * Former Friends star Lisa Kudrow was in tears after she uncovered a harrowing tragedy linking her family to a Nazi massacre.

The revelation came as she traced her ancestors on the programme Who Do You Think You Are? and the actress found that her great-grandmother was killed and burned with 900 other Jews caught in the Holocaust during the Second World War, reports express.co.uk.

I knew my great-grandmother was murdered but to hear the words killed and burned thatsurgh. God, she said.

Kudrow also found an elderly woman who was a close friend of her grandmother Grunia and spoke of their childhood fear of the Germans.

She was told that in March 1942 Adolf Hitlers Nazis searched out 900 Jews and forced them to run to the market place. They were led to a deep hole, stripped, lined up and shot from all sides. Each body fell into the pit and the Nazis then poured in oil and set it on fire.

These people were no threat, its just the ravings of a mad man who decided that Jews didnt fit into the way he saw the human race. I am glad that I got to see, witness, acknowledge what happened to my family here and pay my respects at their final resting place. That moment is worthwhile, said a teary Kudrow.

However, she managed to find the cousin her father remembered, Yuri Barudin, the man who first brought news of the massacre to her family. He was thought to have died but was alive and living close by.

Im so happy that I have something happy to tell my father. They both went through so much and came out the other end to share their good fortune and beautiful families. Its so fulfilling, she added.

The Emmy award-winning actress, who lives in Los Angeles with her French husband Michel Stern and their 12-year-old son Julian, is executive producer of the US version of the popular BBC series.

Thank you for posting this. I had no idea, first of all, that Lisa Kudrow was Jewish, but more importantly, I was deeply touched by this story. So many people that I know have had to endure similar situations, but they are not famous like Lisa. She helps to put a "face" to the issue.

@ThunderAppeal You should not criticise or demean her for sharing her thoughts & feelings. Celebrities who do this help others... motivate them to find out about their families and to remember them. It is important for us to be aware of what happens in history so that we as a society can try not to let it happen ever again.

Just because you don't care, doesn't mean others shouldn't. Please don't be so judgemental about others because they have feelings and choose to share them.

@POLAK1Nysa Some people have compassion for the fate of others even if they are not realitives, in this case they are. So, I cry when I read about the holocaust and I am not Jewish, I never lived oversea, outside of the USA and I was born 10 years after WW2, Yet I cry...so why should she not cry for her lost family members. And YES, I cry over sad truth events not just the Holocaust

@itzikisthename I don't need to search the internet, or watch TV to see the truth. I am LIVING the reality. I live in Palestine! What is happening here is just madness. People are being killed everyday. Just because we don't have the money or the power to own the media, doesn't mean that people cannot see the truth!! People and I are sorry for what happened then. But we need to stop being overly dramatic about it, and see what is happening NOW HERE which can be stopped!

All I'll say is that I stand by my words. BOTH sides have been at fault& violent,& both sides need to compromise & learn to get along. & its irrelevant whether anyone thinks that god promised them a land or some biblical story. In this day& age,society should be secular &non-sectarian,& "fighting for territorial expansion"doesn't belong in this day & age. Hope 4 peace.
