please name some of those effects, so i can look em up ...i guess "patricles" is not the exact effect name...
is ther any tutorial on how to do this?

As with all my videos it was made in 3DS Max.
There is no tutorial as it was just me experimenting one day.
I cant really give any more details on how the effect works cos its that simple. a 3 stage cellular blend and a particle effect
