The famous and so oft toldstory of her being gang raped by solders in the mental hospital was...completely made up. The author admitted it, said it would wrote it to make the book more interesting. Frances Farmer never spoke of any such incidents at all in her autobiography.

The raping incidents were related in the book "about" her, I forget the name of it. The guy who wrote it was just interested in the money. One thing that was confirmed in both books II don't suppose anybody has read either, all they know is the movie) was that husband of hers, his name was Leif Erickson, like the Viking, he was an absolutely swine! Shawdowland is the biography, and Will There Really Be A Morning is the autobiography.

Both mention the rapes. However, neither were written by Farmer. Morning was ghost written by her friend after Farmer's death and Lois Kibbee who was suppose to write it dropped out of the project.

Shadowland's writer admitted that the rapes could not be substanciated, and that he theorizes that the lobotomy happened because the Dr visited the hospital on a few occasions while Farmer was detained there.

Frances never had a lobotomy by that sick fuck "Dr" Freeman.
